OKEHAMPTON Town Council has made a grant for £500 to Okehampton Army Cadets towards improvements to the corps’ grounds including creating a parade square.

The council is also giving £500 to the PCC for All Saints Parish Church towards a bench and the creation of a sanctuary garden in the churchyard.

The grants were approved at a meeting of the council’s policy and resources committee on March 29.

The committee also resolved to give between £1,000 and £1,500 towards a planning consultant to work on the town’s Neighbourhood Plan, with the exact figure to be finalised.

Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council is to contribute ten per cent towards the cost.
