Okehampton Argyle Reserves 3

Sampford Peverell 0

IN this one-sided game Okehampton always looked in control and Sampford Peverell never really threatened the Argyle goal.

The defence of Kev Gill, Aaron Ditchburn and Chris Dearing looked comfortable on the ball, bringing the midfield into play as Okehampton played some attractive football.

Okehampton pressed all over the pitch, creating a couple of openings, the best of which resulted in Stuart Entwhistle hitting the post with a 25 yard screamer that left the goalkeeper standing.

The opening goal came from a corner with Ricky Wooldridge swinging in a cracking ball, Kev Gill hitting the post with a left foot strike and Darren Prouse following up to score.

Some slick passing in midfield between Daniel Gibbs, Stuart Entwhistle and Ben Harris put Dave Yip through out wide and his cross was turned into his own net by a Sampford Peverell defender on the goal line.

Ricky Wooldridge and Ricky Drew combined well down the left flank, causing the opposition constant problems, with Harris and Prouse doing the same down the right.

Okehampton started the second half slowly, giving Sampford Peverell their only moments of dominance, but all they really mustered up was a couple of long range efforts that never tested Harry Gearing in goal.

The midfield of Gibbs, Entwhistle and Yip's fitness proved too much for the visitors, who could not really get to grips with them.

With 25 minutes to go Okehampton replaced Prouse and Drew with Jon-jo Fellows and Daniel Pengelly. it was Pengelly's cross that Ricky Wooldridge headed over the Sampford Peverell goalkeeper to make it 3-0 and complete a well deserved victory for Okehampton.

Next week the Reserves are home to Broadclyst, 2.15pm kick-off.
