Barnstaple U16s 22
Okehampton U16s 19
WITH both sides having won all their games so far this season, there was always gong to be some tension in this game. So it proved with both sides having a player sin binned during the game. It could easily have been more.
Both sides were evenly matched. Barnstaple were the first to put points on the board closely followed by Josh Bush picking the ball up from a ruck near the Barnstaple try line to touch the ball down to equal the scores.
The game was then held up for 25 minutes whilst an ambulance was called to attend to Okes' Will Copp. From a tackle he landed badly with his head and shoulder hitting the ground first and knocking his shoulder out of its socket. With play resuming Barnstaple scored a converted try from a tap penalty. Again Oke fought back with Stephen Paul scoring a try converted by Liam Wilkins.
The second half was similar with Barnstaple scoring a converted try and Dean Folland responding with a try again converted by Liam. It looked like the match was going to end in a draw until a penalty conceded by the Okes gave Barnstaple the opportunity to win the match by three points.
