Whitchurch U17s v
Plymouth U17s
WHITCHURCH finished their league programme with a four-wicket win over Plymouth (played 8, won 5, lost 2, tied 1).
Plymouth elected to bat, having won the toss, but found themselves in trouble at 45 for 5 at the halfway (12 overs), but then took heart from finishing on 102 for 8. Adam Rickard (18) Jon Tucker (11) and Victor Kandampully (21) were the major contributors. Nathan Patrick returned his best figures of the season (3-24) with excellent support from James Kaminski (2-18), Tom Jackson (1-8), Alex Hudson and David Hutchins also taking one apiece. The bowlers were backed up by a superb fielding performance with most dismissals falling to catches, Ian Gray taking two, and a breathtaking run out by Richard Rouse diving full length to beat the batsman.
In reply Whitchurch knocked the runs off with 5 overs to spare, the major contributor being stand-in skipper Richard Hall (66), Harry Kandampully was pick of the Plymouth bowling taking 4-20, with Andrew Foster the only other wicket taker (1-24).
James Kaminski (Whitchurch) and Mark Thompson (Plymouth) were made fielders of the match.
