This year's event saw two teams of seven players, with ages ranging from seven to 13 competing over nine holes. Led by captain Arun Caines, the Tavistock team of Tobias Clifford-Flower, Malachy Fitzgerald, Jamie Ninnis, Tom Ross, Luis Inacio and Callam Boon, greeted a Yelverton team led by Adam Hislop and including Harvey Whalley, Joe Newcombe, Jordan Gray, Kira Penaluna and Tavistock club member George Andrews who kindly agreed to help the opposition when they found themselves one player short.
Played in fine weather both teams produced some impressive golf. With the captains contesting a close match and the second pairing of Tobias Clifford-Flower and Harvey Whalley producing an equally cagey affair, only two points separated the teams as the first groups reached the club house. However, an impressive 20 points from seven year-old Joe Newcombe, and a superb round from Jordan Gray who top scored with 27 points, saw Yelverton open a lead which proved unassailable.
The final scores saw Yelverton victorious on 134pts-105pts. After the event both captains thanked Tavistock Golf Club and in particular the junior organisers, Keith Stenhouse and Pat Hoar from Tavistock, and Gary Hulbert from Yelverton, for helping to resurrect the event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved. Plans are already underway for next year's contest which will see the Tavistock team travel to Yelverton in a bid to regain the cup.
