North Okes U16s 21
Barnstaple U16s 0
WITHIN minutes Barnstaple conceded a penalty which was kicked by man of the match, Billy Searle. This was closely followed by another penalty awarded to Okes.
Okes withstood intense pressure in their half. Every member of the team laid their body on the line to keep Barnstaple from scoring a try. Jack Williams then broke up the blind side to put Billy Searle over in the corner to score a try.
Josh Bickley went on sniping runs and competed well
The lighter pack competed well in scrums with the stalwarts Paddy Nash at prop, Matt Baker at hooker and Andrew Craddock at loosehead. With good clearing from the rucks by Jack Williams, Calum Pillivant and Daniel Squire, Giles Heard and Will Cooper made the hard yards in the centre. Barnstaple had the territorial advantage, camping in Okes 22 but failed to cross the gain line.
In the second half, Barnstaple attacked the line and but strong defence Okes again kept them out before from a forwards set piece Okes' George Baker was bundled over to score in the corner.
From the restart, Zac Ponsford caught the high ball and it passed to Kyler Burns, onto Luke Simmons, Luke Liversidge and onto most of the team's hands before Karl Pearce scored the final try.
