Totnes Ladies 10

Tavistock Ladies 2

TRAVELLING away with only nine players Tavistock knew this was going to be a tough match. But they started well and against a rather physical side held their own.

A superb ball forward from Candy Capeling set Sarah Blowey off on a run to slot away an excellent goal. Totnes began to get some chances together and it took good tackling from Emily Cox, Aileen Ismail and Julie McGowan to keep them out.

Tavistock won the ball frequently with Janie Sivyer working hard in midfield and Kirsty Jones chasing everything, but the lack of two players soon told and Totnes began to get their shots on target. At half-time Tavistock were 8-1 down.

The second half started well with another fine run from Blowey who again slotted into the net. Capeling, who had picked up an injury, bravely carried on but her speed was sorely missed.

Mc Gowan worked hard and put in some tremendous tackles and Sivyer covered back to help out but two more goals were conceded before the final whistle.

Player of the match: Julie McGowan.

Tavistock Ladies have their last match in two weeks' time against Plymouth Argyle reserves and hope to field a full team. Training 8pm Tuesday at the sports hall.
