Jewson South Western
Tavistock 2
Wadebridge 0
THERE was a Torpoint connection to this Lambs victory - Marcus Crocker signed from the Tamarside club 48 hours previously and a chance meeting between Lambs boss Gary Tiffany and Pete Tiffney brought the later to Langsford Park to sit on the subs bench.
The Lambs were without central defenders Andy Parnowski and Craig Hodge through injury and it gave the opportunity for Ben Pinkham to make the starting line up.
The Lambs counted themselves lucky to go in at half-time on level terms after Tim Allen and Ray Clarke had efforts hit the woodwork. Clarke also had one cleared off the line by central defender Dave Symons.
Tavistock's best chance came just minutes before half-time when Symons got to a back across goal header only to see Allen clear off his line.
The second half was just seven minutes old when the Lambs opened their account. James Cole's corner was only half cleared and it returned to him to send the ball back into the area between defenders and keeper. Crocker came through to volley over Mark Gears.
Wadebridge almost equalised when Stuart Parkin let fly from the edge of the box only for Andy Meeds to pull off the save of the match.
It was now the turn of Tiffney to come on and replace Danny McTighe. Within five minutes Chris Kiely had sent him down the wing for him to cut the ball back for Crocker to slide it into the net.
Gears made good saves to deny both Tiffney and Kiely.
A rocky start for the Lambs that could have saw them go behind but two quality strikes from the new boy on the block gave them the points to seal a five match unbeaten run.
