THERE is never a dull weekend at present for Okehampton Otters as Cornwall was last weekend?s destination for ten Okehampton swimmers as they competed in this year?s Bodmin Open Meet.
By the end of the day?s competition the swimmers had amassed some 23 age group placed positions and improved on 21 personal best times.
Impressive swimming resulted in six first places, three second, six third, four fourth, one fifth and two sixths.
Jenny Rice took pole position in five events, 100 backstroke, 100m breastroke, 100m freestyle, 100m IM and 100m fly.
John Radnor swam to first place in his 100m fly, second 100m backstroke and third 100m IM. Charlotte Rowe left with four awards, first in the 50m freestyle, second 50m backstroke, third 100m IM and fourth 50m fly. Sister Rebecca finished third in the 100m backcrawl and fourth in both the 100m freestyle and 100m IM.
Matthew Westlake finished second 50m backcrawl, third in both 100m IM and 50m fly and sixth in the 50m breastroke. Holly Dennis took third in the 100m breastroke and sixth 100m IM. A further fourth position went to Matthew Webber in the 50m breastroke and a fifth went to Charlotte Radnor in the 100m IM.
Two other swimmers made the journey westwards to swim impressively in their respective events. Michael Aylin smashed his previous personal best times in three events and Amelia Allen swam well to match her impressive personal bests set at previous galas.
With the Otters Club Championships this week the current form of the swimmers will ensure a highly competitive four nights of competition.
