FOLLOWING his performance back in 2006, David Essex returns to Plymouth Pavilions on Friday April 25. David Essex has enjoyed a remarkable career that has combined concerts, records, theatre, composing, films and television with amazing success. Musically he has written, recorded and produced albums and singles that have sold millions of copies worldwide and had 23 Top 30 singles in Britain alone. In the USA he was nominated for a Grammy award for 'Rock-On' which sold a million in the USA and went Gold. 'Rock On' was followed by such diverse hits as 'Lamplight', 'Hold Me Close' and 'Gonna Make You A Star', with the latter two both charting at number one in the UK Top 40. Probably David's most famous hit was written by Tim Rice and Mike Batt, 'A Winter's Tale' and landed him a number two hit in the charts and many TV appearances. As well as huge success musically, David has had a great run at the theatre, where he shot to fame during an audition for the London production of the musical 'Godspell', where he was chosen by enthusiastic US producers for the role of Jesus. For this show he received two major awards and some ecstatic reviews. David went on to star in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's production of 'Evita', write his own musical 'Mutiny' and star in movies 'Godspell' and 'Silver Dream Racer'. More recently David has starred in the theatre production of 'Boogie Nights 2' in 2004 and 'Aspects of Love' in November 2007, both which came to the Theatre Royal Plymouth. David also had a number seven hit with his Greatest Hits album in March 2006. To book tickets contact the box office on 0845 146 1460.
