MOUNT House School's new music school opened last week after a successful appeal raised £350,000.
Dr Roy Massey, organist and master of the choristers of Hereford Cathedral officiated, drawing the curtain on a plaque at the entrance to the new building. He went on to judge a singing contest.
The parents and friends of the school organised the fundraising effort for the building, which will be used for all musical activity — in the past it has taken place in other areas of the school.
The building was completed on time by local builder, Terry Cundy, and was designed by Wyndham Procter, of Pearn and Procter.
Headmaster Charles Price said: 'We are delighted with the building and very grateful indeed for all the support from the school's parents and friends.
'The music scholarships, which were funded by the same appeal, have been a great success and have enabled three local children to receive free music lessons for a minimum of three years.'
