IN a bid to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice, a brave Tavistock man will undergo a full body wax dressed up as popular TV character Mrs Brown.
Sean McDermott, who runs the Pens and More stall in Tavistock Pannier Market, will be waxed by beauticians from Visage salon, while dressed up as everyone’s favourite foul-mouthed Irish comedian.
The charity waxing will take place tomorrow (Friday) in the centre of the pannier market at 3pm.
All of the money raised will be donated to St Luke’s Hospice, a charity very dear to Sean’s heart.
There will be collection buckets in the market and Sean is even allowing people to peel off a wax strip for a £5 donation.
Andrew Facy, events organiser on behalf of the federation of market traders, said: ‘Sean can’t pull a plaster off with out flinching so seeing him have a wax is going to be priceless!’
The fundraising for St Luke’s Hospice is a continuation of charity work carried out by Tavistock Pannier Market as this was its chosen charity for donations made at the market’s summer festival and Easter event.
St Luke’s Hospice is an independent charity providing specialist care and support to people with progressive life-limiting illnesses in South West Devon and East Cornwall.
Last year the charity cared for over 3,480 people in the local community who are living with a life-limiting illness. This specialist care is provided by a multi-disciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers and occupational therapists to patients and their families at home or in hospital.
