A DECISION to delay the Government's response to the consultation of the post office's future was last week welcomed by West Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox. But Mr Cox warned the Government decision will mean a more uncertain future for the region's sub-postmasters. He had previously condemned the fact that the Government had only allowed three weeks to review the submissions and compose its response. Mr Cox hoped the delay was an indication that the Government was giving 'genuine consideration' to the representations it has received. 'I am given to understand that over 2,500 submissions were made in response to the consultation and it is vital that this decision will also serve to prolong the anxiety among postmasters and the communities they serve. 'However, it is imperative that the Government takes into account the very serious concerns of the individuals and organisation who felt compelled to do what they can to protect their local post office and to respond to the consultation,' said Mr Cox.
