OKEHAMPTON Ladies' A' tennis team have had a mixed start to the season, winning one match and losing three.
In their first match away at Sidford, Okehampton came up against a very strong team and only managed to bag one point.
Away against Exeter Golf and Country Club on their astroturf surface Okehampton fared much better and Jackie Jarvis and Beth Carter played some superb tennis to win both of their matches 3-6, 6-3,10-7 and 5-7, 6-2, 10-8.
The new pairing of Angela Herrod-Taylor and Becca Jarvis gained confidence over the evening with Becca hitting some superb backhand winners but they lost the first match 0-6, 1-6.
They had a much closer second match eventually losing 2-6, 7-6, 3-10.
Okehampton travelled to Exeter again the following week to play against Victoria Park where both pairs produced some fine tennis to win 7-4 with Beth and Jackie winning both of their matches and Angela and Becca gaining 3 out of a possible four points.
Okehampton came up against strong opposition once again when they travelled to Tunnels with new pairings of Becca Jarvis and Hannah Packer and Beth Carter and Angela Herrod-Taylor.
Both couples played well with Beth and Angela taking two points from the Tunnels second pair.
Okehampton have 15 points from their four matches and are currently fourth in Division 2 of the Exeter and District Tennis League.
