Okehampton Cup semi-final

North Tawton 2

Chagford 1

THIS game was played with a big crowd watching. Unfortunately it did not live up to expectations.

The game started lively with North Tawton putting pressure on the Chagford defence which stood strong.

Edward Hillier was unlucky midway through the first half when his left-footed volley flew past the post.

Keith Steward, back up front for North Tawton, was a thorn in the Chagford defence and saw a good shot saved by the Chagford keeper.

Against the run of play, Chagford took the lead. Their centre forward broke past the Tawton keeper and lobbed the ball into the net.

Five minutes from half-time, a curled corner from Paul Burrow sailed over the Chagford keeper into the goal for the equaliser.

The second half was poor, with North Tawton missing two good chances. The winner came ten minutes from time through the impressive Rob Miller who hit a 20-yard volley into the Chagford net.
