Westinsure Devon Premier Cup quarter-final

Tavistock 1

Plymouth Parkway 3

THE Lambs? cup exploits ended this season as they went down at this stage for the second season running.

The Lambs, who included new signings James Steer from Torpoint and Tom Barwell from Liskeard, went close in the opening minutes with Craig Hodge turning sharply to send a shot over the bar.

Another effort went wide of the post before the visitors went ahead after just ten minutes. Ex Lambs striker Andy Bowker looked to be offside as he broke through. Lambs keeper Andy Meeds did well to block his goalbound shot but the ball fell for Koran Whitfield to send it back for Darren Lawton to slam the ball home through a crowd of players with the possibility of another Parkway player offside.

It was a controversial opener with the home side incensed about the decision. Andy Meeds? protest seemed to have gone on a considerable length as he was cautioned for his remarks.

The game as a contest ended just six minutes later when Meeds got himself into bother, contesting the position of a free kick in his favour and received a second caution.

Hodge took over in goal and from then on it was an uphill battle but they continued to play their passing game and almost got back on level terms after 37 minutes with Dave Hallett seeing his effort go just wide.

A minute later the Lambs found themselves further behind as Darren Edwards got to the by-line but was adjudged to have been fouled by Hodge. The keeper did well to get hands to Bowker?s spot kick but the ball flew off him into the net.

The Lambs refused to lie down with Paul Smith heading over from a Barwell corner.

Mark Wall took over in goal from Hodge but the visitors effectively ended the game with almost the first attack of the second half as Bowker got himself down the wing to cross low for Whitfield to convert from close range.

Dungey pulled off a great save from Sean Cann minutes later and from then on chances were few and far between before the Lambs gained a consolation goal with four minutes remaining when substitute Adrian Payne converted Paul Adcock?s pass.

It is back to league action this Saturday with the Lambs crossing the Tamar to take on Millbrook with a 2.30pm kick-off.
