PUPILS at Tavistock Community Primary School enjoyed a visit from the Tavistock town mayor recently, when she attended their assembly dressed in full civic regalia.

Cllr Mandy Govier, was accompanied to the school by one of her two official mace bearers, Sally Perkins.

Cllr Govier was invited to talk to the children about her job as mayor of Tavistock, what the town council does and why the mayor needs a mace bearer.

The pupils asked a number of questions including one about the reinstatement of the grass in the Meadows following the funfair.

The mayor thanked the children and staff for inviting her to their assembly.
