A Tavistock bus driver is pulling out all the stops to raise money for charity. Mark Truman, who works for First Bus and is based at Tavistock bus station, is on board to raise a £1,000 for Breast Cancer Care. The driver and training academy instructor has vowed to shave off his head of hair, and dye his three-inch goatee beard a distinctive shade of red. Generous supporters, including his workmates, have already vowed £100, but by the time of the big shave on May 1 Mark is determined to reach his four-figure target. Mark was driven to 'do his bit' after the loss of two friends to cancer — Tavistock antique dealer Robin Fenner and Linda Northey, who died aged just 44. He told the Times: 'After losing two friends with cancer, I felt I never had really had given much thought about it until then so I thought what could I do to help with research to fight against this evil disease.' If you would like to give a donation go to Mark's website on http://www.marktruman.co.uk">www.marktruman.co.uk or through the bus depot at Crowndale Road in Tavistock.
