MORRISONS? new-look supermarket in Tavistock was officially opened last Thursday ? and the ceremony was carried out by the longest serving member of staff. Margaret Bryant cut the ribbon at the Plymouth Road supermarket, watched by store general manager Andy Shepherd and fellow staff members. Tavistock?s is the 292nd store to be opened by Morrisons, the UK?s fourth largest supermarket, as part of its multi-million pound conversion of Safeway stores across the country. The new store also sees the introduction of Morrisons ?Market Street?, a collection of traditional specialist counters serving foods freshly prepared in store. Andy Shepard said: ?The team has been working very hard and have been looking forward to welcoming customers. ?It?s more than just a new name above the door and we are confident that the new format will ensure that Morrisons become a favourite for shoppers in Tavistock.?
