TWENTY four volunteers were out recently for Tidy Tavi's 28th outing.
With so many willing hands, teams were available to visit almost all the central parts of the town as well as Plymouth Road as far as the Woodtown road and the Greenlands area.
This exceptional effort yielded a vast stack of bulging rubbish bags waiting for collection by West Devon Borough Council in The Wharf car park, which organisers believe would probably have been the biggest haul since records began.
Organisers expressed thanks to WDBC for arranging to dispose of the waste properly and to all the volunteers who participated.
Several members of the public mentioned to volunteers that the dropping of litter in some areas seemed to have declined noticeably since the Tidy Tavi teams began their monthly visits.
Despite this, however, organisers said it is almost certain that there will be more litter to collect next month.
Anyone who would like to volunteer at the next collection should turn up on Saturday, April 5. Volunteers will meet at The Wharf at 9.50am and should bring along some gloves, everything else will be provided.
