POLICE in Tavistock are appealing for witnesses, following an unprovoked assault on a 34-year-old man in the town centre during the early hours of Saturday morning. PC Colin Taylor said the incident occurred near the kebab take-away shop in King Street some time between 1am and 1.20am. PC Taylor said: ?Basically a local man was attacked, he doesn?t really know what happened himself, but he was taken to Derriford Hospital with facial injuries. ?He was on his own walking home. There were several people in the area at the time, some people went to help him ? we believe the offenders ran off in the direction of Bannawell Street.? PC Taylor asked anyone who might have seen the incident or who has any information to contact him at Tavistock Police Station, quoting crime ref JT 06/1465.
