STAFF at Abbey Mead Dental Practice and Implant Centre in Tavistock are celebrating National Smile Month 2011 with the achievements of dental nurse Corrina Daymond, after she successfully gained her certificate of oral health education (OHE) qualification from the national examining board for dental nurses this month.
Corrina, who lives in Bere Alston, started working at Abbey Mead in 2004, first gaining experience before studying for two years at university to pass her national examination for dental nurses and becoming registered with the General Dental Council.
Despite having two children under the age of five, she has been very dedicated to her continuing professional development and as part of her further learning completed the OHE course which involved in depth studies of child and adult patients.
Dr Ann Cummins from Abbey Mead said 'All the team at Abbey Mead are proud and delighted with Corrina's success.
'She is helping to promote the message that a good oral healthcare routine can help guard against all sorts of oral and general health conditions from bad breath and decay to gum disease, which has been linked to a number of more serious health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and strokes.'
