LOOE hockey team were a strong, physical side and their style took Okehampton by surprise.

Strict umpiring kept them in check with two Looe players receiving warning cards early on.

Looe dominated the first half and Okehampton were too half-hearted in reply losing three goals in quick succession.

The second half was better. Jane Jones had an outstanding game at left half and Jo Stephens was influential in the middle.

Too many times Okehampton looked for the long ball instead of short passing but when they did link together they produced good attacking moves.

Jo Moppett was rewarded for her perseverance with a fine goal to pull one back for Okehampton.

Sarah Toms, who only came into the first team this year, had a good second half at centre forward.

There was much for Okehampton to learn from this game which reinforced the difference in standard in the higher league compared with last season.

Okehampton have a break from the league matches with a friendly against Exeter Ladies III on Saturday.
