A BELSTONE man who discovered a Dartmoor beauty spot turned into a rubbish tip for broken glass and discarded drinks cans has spoken of his anger at the mindless vandalism. Dick Norrish said he was ?incensed? to find so many discarded drinks cans and smashed bottles thrown into the river and along the riverbank at Skaigh Lane car park, between Belstone and Sticklepath last Friday morning. He said: ?There was broken glass everywhere. ?It was extremely dangerous to children, who could have been running and playing there, and numerous people walk their dogs there daily. As well as wild animals you can see ponies, sheep and deer there. ?It appeared to me youngsters had gone to the spot because of its beauty and then deliberately tried to spoil it.? Mr Norrish said he hoped those responsible for the littering would feel a sense of guilt for what they had done or that information relating to the offenders might be passed on to the National Park Ranger or the Sticklepath and Okehampton Conservation group, who kept the area tidy on a voluntary basis, but could not be expected to clean up such a dangerous mess. Mr Norrish said he stopped to help other members of the public to try to clean up the mess, which had now been fully removed.
