THE latest group of lifesavers pictured receiving their awards at Kelly College with their teacher Wendy Dalton.

In the front row are Daniel Bird and Kayleigh Wonnacott, both aged 12, who passed their millennium medallion, their millennium life support and their life support 1 award.

The millennium medallion is a special award which was introduced by the Royal Lifesaving Society last year and has been extended this year. The test is similar to the bronze medallion involving water based, land based and initiative testing resources, but there are no timed swims. It is aimed at those who would like to return to lifesaving but are unsure about their ability to complete the timed swims of the bronze, and for young lifesavers.

The rest of those pictured are Alex Hodgson, Kirsty Ingrams and Lauren Cooke who took their bronze medallion and life support I, except for the second person in the back row, who took his award of merit and life support 2, Shaun Hewitt, 15, who is a Kelly pupil, is using life saving as part of his Duke of Edinburgh award.

Not pictured are Geoff Allen and Paul Rowe who also passed their bronze medallions.

If you are interested in doing life saving, a new course is just starting on Saturday 1-3pm. Ring Wendy at the Kelly pool on 01822 813155.
