A FORMER Tavistock College pupil was named best recruit after completing his basic training at the Army Training Regiment at Winchester recently.
Trooper Lee Shaw, aged 19, will now go to Bovington Camp in Dorset to complete phase two of his training which includes courses in signals and car driving. He will then learn to drive and maintain the army's new main battle tank, Challenger 2.
After completing his phase two training he will join the 2nd Royal Tank Regiment in Fallingbostel, Germany.
Lee was joined at his passing out parade by his father and mother, Steve and Linda Shaw, who live in Bere Alston.
