CHARITY worker Frank Abbas will give a talk on his charity Light in the Darkness, set up to aid deprived children living in the gypsy ghetto of Varna in Bulgaria, on April 27.
Founding the charity in 2005, Frank gave up his career as a logistics manager to live and work in Varna.
Although the project is Christian-based, the charity's goal is to help all those living in the diverse ghetto community regardless of creed, and to promote co-existence between Bulgarians, gypsies and other ethnic minorities.
The charity works with people living in the ghetto to help change lives.
It promotes and enables education, which leads to future employment and well being.
Extreme poverty, marginalisation and even the mafia are a few of the challenges facing children who live in Varna.
The talk, which will discuss the work being done to tackle these challenges takes place at Fairplace Church Hall, Okehampton, from 7pm to 9pm.
Entrance is free, and there will be music and refreshments on offer.
