Lamerton 0

Foxhole 1

THIS was a disappointing display by Lamerton in the run up match to the Devon Intermediate cup final.

Lamerton again lacked quality in the final third and the only goal came in the first half, when a Foxhole corner saw former Lamerton striker Pete Broomfield get a slight flick, which ricocheted off Paul Breyley and over the line. It could easily have been two five minutes later when the referee awarded a free kick to Foxhole, ten yards from the Lamerton goal but Foxhole's Chris Dingle blasted over.

Dingle then hit the underside of the bar, with the ball coming back off the goal line and Pete Daniel made two excellent saves, one in each half.

Paul Breyley was outstanding at the heart of the Lamerton defence.

Lamerton had numerous chances.

The lively Steve Gibbings nearly equalised when he shot from the edge of the box; Blair Vanstone had the goal gaping from a low cross, but miscued; Kev Swift then jinxed his way past the defence near the end, to go one on one, but the Foxhole keeper saved well.

• Lamerton play their Devon Intermediate cup final against Babbacombe Corinthians at Newton Abbot, tonight at 7.30pm and on Saturday are at home to Altarnun, kick-off 2.30pm.
