East Cornwall Palladium league division one Tavistock seconds 6 St Blazey 0 TAVISTOCK soon found their passing game against a St Blazey side who at the start of the season were tipped to win the league. The game started well for Tavistock; in the first five minutes they were awarded a penalty. Paul Cowling coolly stepped up to slot home. It was one way football and with poor conditions St Blazey's defence could not hold out. With a solo run down the wing, Jamie Martin cut in the box to shoot home for the Lambs' second. Martin then knocked a long ball to Cowling, who ran 30 yards past the St Blazey defence before passing to Martin who fired across the box for Anderson to shoot home. Minutes later another long pass from defender Paul Mellor found Cowling in space; he set up Aaron Rocky to fire home a rocket from 20 yards. In the second half Tavistock were still pushing forward with Chris Bray menacing the defence. Rocky and McPherson controlled the midfield and a solid back four, Matt Allen, Pornoski. Chris Short and Mellor were outstanding. The game seemed to be all over when St Blazey scored an own goal. However, substitute Pete Gibson wasn't finished. He won the ball back to thread it to Cowling, whose dummy then fell to Ben Stevens, who with a subtle chip finished the game in style. Tavistock managers Karl Gatcum and Mick Piper said that was the best game of football they had seen this season. l Lambs' second team have no fixture this Saturday.
