Carlsberg South Western League St Blazey 3 Tavistock 2 THE Lambs will feel unlucky not to have came away with a point from Blaise Park after coming from behind, drawing level near the close then seeing the home side get the winner at the death. It was a goalless first half but the best of the chances fell for the Lambs as Glynn Hobbs raced away for Gary Penhaligan to smother his shot and Ryan Honey saw Matt Parsons nick the ball away for a corner as he was about to shoot. The best effort came form Steve Ovens as he steered the ball over the bar from close range when he met Dominic Richardson's cross. The home side opened the scoring on 52 minutes when from a cross Ovens controlled and hit a shot low into the corner. Andy Meeds kept the Lambs in the game minutes later but it was a through ball on the hour that saw Ovens go outside Meeds to shoot across goal into the bottom of the upright. It looked dead and buried for the Lambs but they clawed a goal back ten minutes later when substitute Dave Hallett gained possession on the edge of the area to allow Hobbs to weave himself into a shooting position and blast home from close range. The Lambs refused to lie down with Will Stringer just failing to latch onto a Shane Krac free kick. Hobbs went on a darting run to see Penhaligan parry his shot into the path of a defender for it to go for a corner. The Lambs drew level with the goal of the game on 87 minutes that deserved to win let alone level the match. Chris Short took possession of Stringer's crossfield ball on the halfway line and strode forward to unleash a 30 yarder that flew past a static Penhaligan. But the home side responded to carve out the winner on the stroke of full time as Ovens got down the left to cut the ball back for substitute Wayne Riley to strike. The ball seemed to have taken a part block to loop over Meeds for a fortunate winner to leave the Lambs despondent. A sad result as they were worthy of a point but on reflection a stirring second half display that they can take forward into the next game.
