A GINGER cat dumped into a rubbish collection by a passing car is now safe and recovering at Margaret Green Foundation Trust?s animal sanctuary near Tavistock. Neighbours Suzanne Reeday and Doreen Harvey from a village near Liskeard witnessed a man attempting to throw a black bag, with Lulu the cat inside, onto their rubbish in November. The pair of women, along with other neighbours from the cul-de-sac, spent more than two weeks trying to catch Lulu, named after Mrs Reeday?s dog. Mrs Reeday placed food under the hedge of her property and saw Lulu eating it ? but the ginger cat was not eating on a regular basis due to the weather. After 17 days watching out for Lulu neighbour Carol Spear managed to catch her. She was able to gain Lulu?s confidence and kept her overnight before Mrs Reeday brought her to MGFT?s Wingletang Animal Sanctuary earlier this month. Donna White, the trust?s marketing manager, said: ?The other neighbours also brought food and litter over this time to encourage Lulu to trust them. They are obviously all delighted that she is now safe and well. ?We are pleased to say she is eating and settling in well, although she is still very scared and thin. She is quite nervous of her back end but is quite cuddly ? as long as the back is not touched. ?The whole cul-de-sac is to be thanked for the wonderful effort they have put in to help Lulu.?
