Westward Developments league cup
Tavistock Ladies CFC 2
Brixham Ladies 4
THE Tavistock ladies were knocked out of the cup in a game that could have been won.
For 20 minutes Tavistock dominated play and although a physical game Tavistock did not falter. Their wingers Hone and Jones along with Kelly and Hurley in midfield played some fast two touch passing to see Gordon through, whose shot hit the post.
Shortly after, Weeks hit the crossbar from 20 yards but it was Brixham who scored four minutes later with a similar cracking shot.
Just before half time Brixham found themselves with an open goal but Tanya Coker cleared off her line. Seconds later, the Brixham fast striker beat the defence and slotted in for 3-0.
The second half started well and Tavistock were soon on the attack but Jo Webber handled in the area to give the visitors a penalty. However, Lauren, the Tavistock keeper made a splendid dive to save.
Weeks pulled one back for Tavistock when her shot went through the goalie's legs. Donna Weekes was then pulled down in the area and Robyn Hammond smashed the ball into the net. The last 10 minutes were frantic but despite their efforts the town ladies could not penetrate the Brixham defence again.
