Okehampton Ladies 1

Exeter Rangers 4

OKEHAMPTON put up a good performance in this league cup clash and can count themselves unlucky not to have come away with a result.

Naomi Wilkins opened the scoring in the first half, side-footing a low cross into the net.

Continuous pressure from Okehampton saw a succession of excellent corners taken by Hayley Vincent but they could not be converted.

Rangers equalised with a low shot which, with Kerry Drew unsighted in goal, crept inside the upright.

The second half saw a rejuvenated Rangers playing with the slope but they were unable to break down the Okehampton defence in which Michelle Vaughan and Frances Bartle performed admirably.

In the first period of extra time Sarah Godbeer, the Rangers substitute, scored with two excellent strikes and although Abby Williams went close several times she was denied by outstanding saves from the Rangers keeper.

Hayley Wilkins and Charlotte Davy made promising debuts.

Player of the match: Frances Bartle.

This week the ladies are away to Exeter City LFC in the Devon County Cup. The match will be played at Cullompton with a 2.30pm kick-off. The team should meet at the college gates at 12.30pm.
