THE NHS is consistently on the receiving end of brickbats and criticism, mostly from politicians seeking to make political capital. Of course things will occasionally go wrong in an organisation of this size, but we should not allow ourselves to be distracted from the bigger picture, that of the highest standards of medical skill and nursing care. I am prompted to write this letter to express appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at our health centre here in Okehampton and similarly the RD &E where the care offered to my wife in her terminal illness and the kindness to myself and my family, was nothing short of exemplary.
