SHE went missing for a month and a half and returned with news of her bizarre adventures but now Sophie, the missing mannequin, is back home where she belongs.
Lifelike mannequin Sophie who disappeared from outside a barn in Lamerton mysteriously returned home last week.
Chris Harrap had appealed in the Times edition of January 16, for whoever had taken Sophie to return her, and five weeks later Sophie was returned almost exactly to the spot from where she was taken. Chris said her husband spotted Sophie had been returned shortly before 6am, on Friday, February 21, sporting a new dress and waterproof jacket, with a note pinned to her.
The note read: ?To my long lost friends, I was kidnapped by a group of maniac gorillas. I have had the most extreme time in my life. I fell in love with their leader Tarquin but it didn?t work out, so I am back with a new image. Glad to be back. Love Soph. xxx.?
Chris said it was ?wonderful? to have Sophie back all in one piece, though she was looking a little pale after her adventure.
The life-size mannequin had been standing outside Chris? barn in Lamerton for the past eight years, becoming something of a fixture in village life, before disappearing sometime over Christmas.
Chris had owned the old-style mannequin for around 20 years, after previously running a clothes shop in Launceston. The mannequin was stored in an attic for many years, before being given pride of place outside.
She was named Sophie after a French student who stayed with the family, and was particularly fond of the mannequin.
