Okehampton Argyle . .2

Broadclyst SC . . . . . . . 2

OKEHAMPTON stole their first point of the season thanks to a great save from Jon Carter and a superb 25 yard strike from central defender James Williams.

Keeping faith with last week's ten men, plus the addition of Chris Wills, meant some people thought their manager was gambling a bit but the side's passion was enhanced with more cohesion.

Goalkeeper Carter looked comfortable though he was grateful to see one Broadclyst effort rebound off the post into his arms. Equally so, Okehampton created chances but appeared to be unable to finish cleanly. That is until Sercombe was sent clear on the right to put a low cross along the six-yard line for Ryan Soby to tuck away.

Unfortunately, the lead lasted exactly ten seconds after the break as Board powered past three Okehampton players with a 40-yard run and a clinical finish.

Okehampton were still creating chances and Carter's aerobatics inspired them more. Sercombe, Evans and substitute Ditchburn went close and their defence locked up shop. However, all their effort seemed lost when Board rose to a fine cross and butted his second goal.

With nothing to lose, Williams pushed forward more but fired two shots wide before volleying a hurried clearance back past Smith's desperate dive.

A point apiece seemed fair though Okehampton felt hard done by when Morgan was felled from behind, as he broke free in the Broadclyst box and the referee ignored all calls for a penalty. The fact that Morgan could not continue confirmed the harshness of the decision against an honest lad. Man of the match: Chris Wills.

Argyle travel to Feniton this week and desperately need more drivers, if they are to take a full squad. Players to meet at the college gates at 8.45pm sharp!
