OKEHAMPTON has chosen its Carnival Queen for 2004 ? Katherine Winthorp is the lucky girl.
Following a vote by Times readers, Katherine was comfortably ahead of the three other candidates.
She will join this year?s Prince and Princess Connie-Jayne Bailey and Ryan Dowling as carnival royalty for the big day on Saturday, October 16.
Katherine, her attendants and Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band, will lead the evening procession of colourful floats through the town centre.
A quiz night is being held tonight (Thursday) by the carnival committee at the Plume of Feathers starting at 7.30pm.
Entry is £5 per team of four, with all funds going towards the carnival.
