Tavistock A . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 4

Torbay C . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .1

WITH all the friendly hockey matches completed, Tavistock wanted to get off to a good start in the League.

Tavistock quickly took control, and soon the first goal was scored with a good run from Townsend who crossed the ball into the D for Mackintosh to score.

The home side played well and Barrat Jnr and Roomes linked well on the left side of the pitch. With a lapse of concentration from the home side and against the run of play Torbay scored to level just before half time.

Capt Cooley made a few changes during the interval and from the start the home side started to dominate once again.

The second goal was scored by Brown which had the Torbay goalkeeper well beaten. Mackintosh scored the third goal and Cooley Jnr scored the fourth with a strong hit from just inside the D.

M Osbourn had little to do in the Tavistock goal and his defence of George, Young and Holden worked hard to prevent any threatening attacks.

Tavistock would have settled for a point but by the end of the game were worthy winners and deserved the three points.
