Devon Intermediate Cup semi-final Horrabridge Rangers 2 Okehampton Argyle 1 AFTER an exodus of the local youth players for various reasons at the beginning of the season Horrabridge Rangers have had to rebuild their B team, and this has worked really well after the hard work of the managing staff. The semi final was played at Fillace Park in horrible conditions, but both teams were commended on their part in this entertaining and sporting encounter which was well controled by the officials. Calvin Evans got Rangers off to a good start when he beat the Argyle offside trap, cut in and controlled the ball beautifully before beating Harry Gearing the Okehampton goalkeeper. Jamie Cork, aged 17, helped his growing reputation by putting Rangers two up when he squirmed through three players to nick the ball over the keeper. A missed chance just before the half could have sealed the match but an easy chance was skied by Chris Evans. The second half started with Horrabridge pushing forward and an open goal was missed by Steve Wills. Midway through the second half on a worsening pitch Craig Mulholland was called into action to pull off a one on one save blocking with his legs. Okehampton scored deep into injury time to give them a consolation for their hard work and endeavour. Horrabridge Rangers thanked Okehampton Argyle for the part they played in a game which was good enough to grace a final. Horrabridge Rangers SA B team now have a place in the final of the Devon Intermediate Cup final on Tuesday, April 8, against Buckland Athletic reserves. l Horrabridge Rangers SA B are also in the George Gillin Cup semi-final against Roborough A and the Challenge Bowl semi-final against Old Suttonians.
