ONE of Okehampton?s most promising young athletes scored yet another success last weekend, when he landed a gold medal at the AAA Championships at Birmingham.
Shot putter David Dawson, aged 18, was delighted to win the gold in the Under 20s age group of the competition with a 16m 9cm throw.
Hot on the heels of his success, David has now been asked to compete at an international match at Cardiff at senior level, throwing against athletes from Scotland, Wales, Ireland and a mixed international team.
?He?s competed before for Great Britain on numerous occasions but never for England so it?s his first English shirt ? he?s well pleased,? said mother, Carol.
David competes in Cardiff on February 9.
