PEOPLE with memory problems and their carers are being welcomed to participate in two memory cafés taking place in Okehampton each month.

The Forget-Me-Not Café runs on the last Tuesday of each month from 2pm to 4pm at the Glen Community Room on Castle Road. This is a social group and there is normally a complimentary therapist on hand to give short therapy sessions.

Melodies and Memories is held on the third Tuesday of each month from 2pm to 4pm at the Redvers Unit at Okehampton Community Hospital. During the session, users listen to music and sing along to songs that bring back memories.

The cafés are primarily open to people with memory problems and their carers. Carers can attend with or without the person they care for. Though the cafés are designed for people coping with memory loss, anyone in a caring role who is feeling lonely or isolated is welcome to attend.

Refreshments are supplied free of charge at both the cafés. To find out more, you can turn up on the day or call co-ordinator Lynn Lane on 01837 53397.
