THE Mount House School U13 Rounders squad from Mount House School had the best possible warm-up early in the season when they played against the junior national squads in the England Rounders Festival at Glastonbury.
The team performed well against some predictably strong opposition, and drew high praise from the international squads and coaches for their tenacity and cheerfulness throughout the day.
While they did not win any of their matches, they competed particularly well.
In the field they backed each other up effectively, and moved the ball to second or fourth posts to take many wickets.
When their turn came to bat, the Mount House girls achieved impressive strike rates and were quick to take advantage of misfields to steal posts or score.
It was a highly enjoyable day and a massive learning experience for the squad, and one from which they will take many lessons that will stand them in good stead through the coming season.
