Tavistock A 3
Marjon C 2
TAVISTOCK A continued their fight against relegation this week, taking on Marjon C at home. The Marjon side has the same incentive and the match that followed started at a fast pace and never slowed.
Fifteen minutes in Brookes neatly deflected a strike past the Marjon goalkeeper and opened the account for Tavistock. Ten minutes later Holland crashed a penalty corner into the goal to make it 2-0. Tavistock to press hard and a couple of chances went unconverted before the half time whistle.
Marjon came out hard in the second half and a deft flick into the corner of the goal brought them back into the match. Tavistock fought back immediately though and a few minutes later Phil Honey's cross was deflected in by Adam Holland.
Marjon began to make some dangerous breaks but were met by outstanding play from fullbacks Bradley, Stanbury and Robson. However, with 15 minutes to play Tavistock were punished for their first piece of poor marking when the visitors' slotted their second goal.
This proved to be the final score, a 3-2 win for Tavistock. The game was marked by the exceptionally high work rate displayed for the third week running. Their man of the match was Sam Stanbury who had an outstanding game at centre back.
