A SPECIAL meeting which could influence the future of the Royal British Legion in Okehampton is being held in the town next week.

The meeting is considered to be of particular interest to all members, both associate and ordinary, and will take place in the Masonic Hall on Monday July 5.

Peter Williams, of Okehampton RBL, said: ?The speaker is the Devon county secretary, Wing Commander Jerry Todd, who has been invited to address the question of ?limited company? status for the branch.

?He will be available to answer queries concerning the administration of the social club, particularly the limitations of club activities within the framework of current legislation.?

Mr Williams encouraged all RBL members to attend the meeting, which was particularly important at a time when national membership was falling and branches were amalgamating or even closing.

The meeting begins at 7.30pm. For more information, call 01837 840757.
