A STUNNING collection of vibrant images recording the journeys of two West Country artists opens at Tavistock?s Mayflower Galleries on November 4. The exhibition is called ?Orient and Occident?, the works of Ian Pethers and Colin Pethick. It includes Colin?s depictions of the Sichuan Province of South West China and Ian?s artistic record of trips to Venice and Rome. The objective is to show the contrast between Europe and Asia as well as the similarities in colour and texture through the eyes of two artists working in different media. Gallery owner, Tony Whitehead, said: ?This is really breaking new ground for us. Dartmoor has always been the centre of the universe as far as the subject matter we usually display goes, but the images in this exhibition are filled with colour and gaiety and are bursting with atmosphere.? The exhibition is open daily except Sunday from 9.30am to 5pm, and runs from November 4 to 13.
