Tavistock 1st XI v Thorverton 1st XI

TAVISTOCK won the toss and put Thorverton in to bat on a wet wicket which should have suited the Tavistock attack.

Doel and Solway made two early breakthroughs and at one stage Thorverton were reeling at 28 for 3. However, Tavistock allowed the batting side to recover by bowling too many loose balls and a number of wides and no balls.

Gray and Tavener then built a substantial partnership of 113.

With eight overs remaining Thorverton were set to score in the region of 108 before Gauler bowled Gray for 31.

Meanwhile at the other end Luffman was bowling a tight line and was rewarded with two late wickets, including the wicket of Tavener, who contributed 71 to the final total of 164 for 6 wickets.

The Tavistock reply started poorly, losing the early wicket of Walter.

Stephens and Roesstorff then had a fine partnership of 79 which was dominated by Stephens who scored a classy 56.

Thorverton then took two wickets in two balls and the rest of the Tavistock reply became hard work, with only Luffman and Manning having any success against a tight bowling attack.

Luffman and Manning departed, scoring 21 and 28 respectively.

Tavistock scrambled home to their first league win of the season with Kaitiff hitting the winning runs.

Tavistock scored 19 points and this result puts them back in the promotion hunt.
