WEST Devon and Torridge MP Geoffrey Cox welcomed members and supporters of the Tavistock-based mental health charity, 'Make a Difference' to Westminster last week. In a speech in parliament last year the MP, who is a trustee of the charity, praised the self-help organisation, which provides a Saturday lunch and social club for those recovering from mental health problems, and subsequently invited the group to tour the House of Commons and to have lunch with him. Make A Difference is one of the organisations hoping to benefit from an offer by a former local man, Bill Papworth, to provide a permanent centre for those with mental health and learning disabilities in Tavistock. Geoffrey Cox said: 'I am very proud indeed of all those who have set up and contributed to the success of Make a Difference. 'They include very courageous people who are fighting to get better from mental illness, as well as volunteers who have given up their time to help others, and I was delighted to welcome some of them to the House of Commons, where we all had a lot of fun!'
