TWO student chefs have just rounded off a challenging but enjoyable and rewarding period of work experience at the Arundell Arms Hotel, Lifton by cooking and serving a meal in the hotel restaurant.

Lauren Williams and Lucy Cockett are both first year students at the Michael Caines Academy at Exeter College where Michael was also a student before going on to become a two star Michelin chef.

Lauren said working at the hotel was 'a massive eye opener as to how things work around a restaurant'

'Working closely with the front of house staff and kitchen staff has really been an enjoyable experience.

'When working with the pastry chef I learned a million things within the first two hours,' said Lauren.

Lucy saw for herself how important organization, team work and communication was in both the kitchen and front of house to make sure everything is done and all the customers were happy.

Both students will return to the Academy in the autumn to continue their courses.
