TWO outstanding young musicians, Naomi Williams and Alba Ventura, will give a recital of music for cello and piano at Kelly College, Tavistock, on Wednesday February 11.
Both Naomi (cello) and Alba (piano) are highly acclaimed, award-winning artists.
Naomi is a Phoebe Benham Junior Fellow at the Royal College of Music. When she graduated in 2000, she gained the highest existing mark for her final recital. Since then she has worked extensively with the orchestra of the Royal Opera House.
She has given many recitals at major London venues and performed on Radio 3. As principal cellist of the RCM Symphony Orchestra, she has worked with leading conductors, such as Sir Colin Davis.
Alba was born in Barcelona. She completed her studies at the Royal College of Music and is already an experienced recitalist. She played Beethoven?s ?Emperor? concerto with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Barbican and has been a guest artist with the Brodsky Quartet. In 2003 she was awarded the David Bowerman Junior Fellowship at the RCM.
This recital will undoubtedly be a highlight of the current Kelly Concert Society season. Naomi and Alba will play a very attractive programme: Haydn?s Divertimento in D, Mendelssohn?s Sonata No 1 in B Flat, Schumann?s Fantasiestücke and the wonderful Sonata in G Minor Op 19 by Rachmaninov.
The concert begins at 7.45pm in the Melvin Hall, Kelly College. Admission at the door is £8 (£6 concessions). Under 18-year-olds accompanied by a ticket holder are admitted free.
