SPECIALIST quit smoking advisers were in Tavistock last Wednesday to offer advice and help to people on national No Smoking Day. Mel Edwards and Beverley Desborough from the Plymouth, South Hams and West Devon Primary Care Trust took up residence in a yurt in Bedford Square for the day and had a steady stream of visitors wanting to give up smoking. People could get information about various services available to them including surgeries held in Plymouth to help them quit the habit and they could breathe into a machine which reads carbon monoxide levels. The quit rate in the West Devon, South Hams and Plymouth areas is higher than the national average.
